Accreditation and Licensing

Known as the "Venice of America" because of its vast system of canals and waterways, the city of Fort Lauderdale draws not only throngs of tourists, but a diverse range of people who live, work, play, and yes, study in its beautiful climate and friendly, small-town atmosphere.

There's more to Fort Lauderdale than amazing beaches and abundant sunshine. The city offers museums, art, festivals, concerts, sports and recreation, unique shops and chic boutiques, a world of cuisines in a range of settings, and a community that's vibrant and inviting.

The Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District, Fort Lauderdale's arts and entertainment center, runs along Las Olas Boulevard from the beach to the heart of downtown. The district is anchored in the West by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. For students looking for a short excursion and a bit of a diversion, there are always the beaches, nightlife, and exotic atmosphere of Miami and South Beach, just a short drive down the coast.

The 180-acre Hugh Taylor Birch State Park sits along the beach and offers nature trails, camping and picnicking areas, and canoeing. The Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop, a huge indoor/outdoor flea market, is the world's largest drive-in movie theater, with a total of 13 screens. And there's an International Swimming Hall of Fame--naturally, right on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Fort Lauderdale is home to a surprising assortment of corporations, including AutoNation, Citrix Systems, DHL Express, Spirit Airlines, and National Beverage Corporation. The boating industry is also big in Fort Lauderdale, which is a major yacht production center. The city is also home port for over 40,000 boats, and more than 100 marinas and boat yards.
