If you are considering a career in the military, then the ASVAB test is in your near future. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a test designed to determine your qualification for enlistment in the Armed Forces. The test is administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing command. It can be taken while you are in high school or after high school as long as you are eligible to enlist in the Armed Forces.

Why the ASVAB test is important:

The scores from four sections of the ASVAB (Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, and Mathematics knowledge) are included in your Military Entrance Score, also known as the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). Most branches of the military require a certain score on your AFQT in order to qualify for enlistment.

In addition to qualification for enlistment, your scores can determine the choices you have after enlistment and, in some cases, your rank upon entry. Getting a good grade on your ASVAB, opens more doors for you and gives you more choices in your military career.

Getting a good score:

Since the ASVAB can have such a profound effect on your future military career, it is highly suggested that you spend time preparing for the test, just as you would prepare for the ACT or SAT college placement tests. There are many resources available to you. ASVAB and Peterson's both provide practice tests that can help you gauge your performance and determine what sections of the test where you will need to work to improve.

Peterson's ASVAB course is designed to prepare you for the test as quickly as possible and help you get the best possible score you can get.
