Master of Science in Information Technology Degree Designed to Accommodate Working Professionals

A 12 course Master of Science in Information Technology degree program (MSIT) is offered by Clark University through the School of Professional Studies.. Students develop the skills and expertise to become information technology leaders who understand that every technology decision is also a business decision to leverage as a competitive advantage.

Developed to accommodate working adults, the MSIT degree program at Clark University continues to expand its scope to meet the increasing and unprecedented demand for highly qualified technology managers who bring a holistic and global approach to information technology.

Students in the MSIT degree program at Clark University learn from lectures by industry professionals with decades of experience, and through hands-on applications in project management, business intelligence systems, systems analysis, cyber security, Health Informatics and other IT management areas. Graduates emerge with the skills and the confidence to think critically and creatively and the expertise to successfully align the most advanced information technology synergies and solutions with organizational goals.

Applicants to the MSIT degree program are accepted throughout the year and may register for programs at the beginning of any semester. Successful applicants may have a minimum of three to five years of related work experience, but it is not required; students range from recent graduates to established professionals with significant experience. Applicants may take two or three courses before or while making formal application to the Master of Science in Technology degree program.

MSIT Curriculum

Information Technology continues to be a rapidly growing Industry and its effective use helps create business and social value for all types of enterprises. The ongoing integration of IT with the business and the rapid evolution of the technology itself places a premium on IT leaders who have a pragmatic understanding of how the application of technology can move the enterprise forward, can effectively communicate their vision and then lead its successful execution. Clark University’s Masters of Information Technology Degree is designed to provide these skills to our students.

Our curriculum is comprised of seven required courses which provide a solid understanding of key Information Technology domains and business skills. Students have the opportunity to choose five electives and may elect to concentrate on areas like Cyber Security, Business Intelligence and IT Leadership. Regardless of the path chosen, we provide ample class time to fostering the leadership skill’s like collaboration, negotiation, and truly effective communication techniques, that senior executives look for in the next generation of IT leadership. We place a strong emphasis on experiential based learning via Capstone’s, Internship opportunities for our full time students and project based classroom engagement.  An increasing portfolio of our courses are also available online to insure our students have as much flexibility as possible in managing their schedules.

Cyber Security and Leadership Concentrations

Optional concentrations in cyber security and new media technologies are available to students who wish to focus on specialized areas and build their management skills.

Cyber Security Concentration

Students who complete this concentration will be prepared to work as IT professionals analyzing and implementing security systems. Students will develop knowledge in enterprise and network security architectures and risk management.  A Clark MSIT student with a concentration in cyber security will have the knowledge base to protect and design information infrastructures; develop, implement, evaluate, and update cyber security policies and practices; and manage information continuity, asset classification and control, compliance, and the secure administration of IT infrastructure.

IT Leadership Concentration

Students who complete this concentration will have the knowledge and skills to lead IT professionals and the IT efforts in an organization. Course work includes developing IT knowledge as well as the capacity to understand leadership of professionals. A Clark MSIT student who completes this concentration will have the competency to develop IT strategy, possess project management excellence, an ability to manage business relationships, optimize operational performance, and have a well-developed understanding of IT sourcing, contracts, and negotiation.

Available in Poland and Russia

The Master of Information Technology degree program is offered on the Clark University branch campuses in Poland and Russia. Areas of emphasis include IT strategy, Cyber Security and Systems Design. Student will develop the skills and insight to develop and execute IT strategies to support all types of enterprises.
