Overview

We don't just teach innovation. We live it

The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University has always been driven by innovation. The school offers five unique MBA degree programs including: the Two-year MBA in Ithaca; the One-year MBA in Ithaca; the new One-year MBA at Cornell NYC Tech; the Cornell Executive MBA in Metro NYC; and the Cornell-Queen's Executive MBA. Johnson leverages the extensive resources of the largest Ivy League university to deliver a robust, thoughtfully designed curriculum tailored to interests and needs.

Students gain access to Cornell's renowned faculty members, enjoy opportunities for intensive learning experiences with leading businesses, participate in a tight-knit learning community, and become part of the global alumni network. All five MBA degree programs deliver the same rigorous academics and signature performance learning methodology; students choose the MBA degree program format and location that best suits their backgrounds and goals.

The school's culture can fully develop into the fullest expressions of its three fundamentals:

- The performance-learning approach goes far beyond typical job-based learning to yield understanding while demanding real business results.

- Cornell University provides access and proximity to vast research, teaching, and global alumni resources.

- The intense, collaborative community cultivates exceptional leadership and team skills that put students at the top of their games -- and at the top of recruiter lists.

- Students have access to the world-class Management Library and the entire Cornell Library system (one of the world's largest). For students who are U.S. citizens, looking into the Roy H. Park Leadership Fellowships is a must.

An MBA like no other

Johnson students benefit from the wisdom and experience of the world-class faculty. Students work side-by-side with faculty members, and with classmates, in an intense, collaborative community. Students immerse themselves in the performance learning experience. They have access to the vast network of Cornell connections -- and, most importantly, students become part of it.

Johnson teaches students how to harness the strengths of those around them, combine peers' strengths with their own, and create progressive and impressive high-performance solutions to business challenges -- and to other challenges facing the world at large.

Whether students want a two-year or one-year MBA degree program, or an executive MBA degree program that allows students to keep working, Johnson offers the ideal opportunity.

Johnson's curriculum is founded on three principles:

- A foundation in all the key functional areas of business

- Strong analytical and decision making skills

- A high degree of flexibility in tailoring individual curricula

Two-Year MBA in Ithaca

This full-time program integrates classroom learning with an intense, personalized, hands-on business immersion. Core coursework provides a critical knowledge base in the functional areas of business. Electives allow students to build skills and knowledge that is specific to their goals and interests. Johnson offers an unusual degree of academic flexibility; here students can choose courses not only from the MBA degree program roster, but from courses offered across Cornell University.

Performance learning and leadership practice are embedded throughout the MBA degree program, from orientation through graduation. Students will apply theory and models to gain intensive, hands-on experience in teamwork, leadership, ethical decision-making, and strategic thinking. In particular, the unique "Immersion Learning" semester delivers exceptional preparation for internships.

One-Year MBA in Ithaca

This full-time program is designed for high-performing individuals who have advanced degrees, strong quantitative skills, and excellent leadership potential. Professional certifications and/or advanced degrees may be awarded credits at the start of the MBA degree program. This allows for the completion of the program in an intense, accelerated one-year timeframe. Unlike other one-year programs, Johnson requires core business coursework, but also provides opportunities for customization. Students will find that our one-year MBA students are M.D.s, Ph.D.s, lawyers, CPAs, CFAs, and holders of other advanced credentials that make them a broad, diverse, and exceptional cohort.

Johnson Cornell Tech MBA

Unlike standard MBA degree programs, this full-time program is truly interdisciplinary and created for the digital economy. It is an incredibly intense, collaborative, and nontraditional program. Johnson brings together students from business, engineering, and computer science to learn, innovate, and create. This MBA degree program is situated on the Cornell Tech campus in New York City's the global business hub. This degree is designed for those with degrees in science or technology, plus three to five years relevant experience, who want to enhance their business knowledge and who desire leadership opportunities in tech-related businesses.

Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY

The Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY program prepares executives to succeed in a fast-paced, competitive arena. This MBA degree program delivers the rigor and depth of the traditional programs in a weekend format that provides flexibility for mid-career managers and professionals who want a top tier business education without sacrificing their careers. The convenient Metro New York location, situated only 12 miles north of Manhattan, provides a comprehensive and collaborative experience. The rigorous curriculum with real world application, taught by leading scholars, is offered every other weekend, leaving the work week uninterrupted. Unlike other similar programs, there is no need to take Fridays off from work. The breadth and depth of the Cornell alumni network, the largest amongst Ivy League universities, combined with outstanding talent, provides the necessary foundation for executives to take their careers to the next level.

Cornell Executive MBA Americas

This team-based Cornell Executive MBA Americas program is offered in more than 20 cities across the Americas, Mexico, and Canada using state-of-the-art interactive videoconferencing technology that connects students to real-time, face-to-face interaction with world-class faculty members and other accomplished MBA degree program classmates. This innovative 17 month program is a unique collaboration between Johnson at Cornell and Queen's School of Business in Kingston, Canada. Classes are held three Saturdays per month, plus three residential sessions on the Cornell and Queen's University campuses. Upon graduation, students can leverage one of the largest Ivy League global networks while simultaneously earning two highly ranked MBA degrees.

PhD Program

For those choosing to pursue a career in teaching and research, the Johnson Ph.D. degree program offers select students in-depth study via a flexible, tailored program in accounting; finance; management and organizations (organizational behavior); marketing; and production and operations management.

The program is small, with about 40 students in residence at any given time. This intimate environment fosters many opportunities for informal interaction among students and faculty members. In addition to enjoying personalized and extremely interactive seminars and workshops, doctoral candidates can also take advantage of offerings at other Cornell schools.

Cornell Executive Business Education
