Online or in-class education at Columbia College

Columbia College, based in Columbia, Missouri, makes it easy for students to earn their degrees online or in-class while managing other commitments. It offers them the following advantages:

- 29 online associate, bachelor's, master's and certificate programs

- Acceptance of more transfer credits than many institutions to accelerate degree completion

- Tuition that's about half the national average for four-year private institutions, which saves students thousands of dollars for a typical degree program

- Academic credit for law enforcement and military training, which helps qualified students earn their degrees faster

- Education at a college with accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, so students can be confident that their degrees will be respected in the job market

Online learning environment

Students can attend classes online, on campus or both at any time. Online interactions with classmates and professors take place through discussion forums and email. Because classes are small, students have ample opportunity to ask questions and get help from instructors who are experts in their fields. They also complete the same learning objectives that they would if they were attending classes on campus. The difference is that they choose when to complete weekly assignments and other work, as long as they meet deadlines.

Six class sessions, each lasting eight weeks, are offered per year. This allows students to earn associate degrees in 20 months, bachelor's degrees in 3.5 years, and master's degrees in 12 months.

Certificate programs

Certificate programs enable students to gain specialized knowledge, experience, and skills. They also prepare them for additional study or help them advance their careers. Students can earn certificates in four areas:

- Crime Scene Investigation

- Human Resource Management

- Management

- Marketing Management

Bachelor's programs

- American Studies

- Business Administration

- Computer Information Systems

- Criminal Justice Administration

- English

- History

The college also offers a Bachelor of General Studies program for students who want to earn a broad exposure to the liberal arts and sciences without choosing a specific major.
