Distance learning overview
Missouri University of Science and Technology offers distance learning options comprising 50 graduate certificate programs and 17 master's degree programs in engineering, science, business, psychology, information technology, and communication. Programs fit the needs of busy working adults who require the flexibility and convenience of a no-residency graduate curriculum. Online distance classes are the same as those taught on the S&T campus and are taught by many of the same instructors. Faculty includes prominent educators, former deans, and industry leaders who are dedicated to helping students meet their educational goals. Most faculty members hold doctoral degrees and are experts in their fields.
Coursework is delivered over the Internet via live streaming video, with live collaboration software, and Blackboard learning management system. Most classes do not require live participation; however, live attendance is up to the individual instructors. All distance courses are recorded and archived for students to watch on their own schedule, anytime and anywhere.
Students are required to complete a graduate certificate within three years and a graduate degree program within six years. Most S&T distance learning students take one or two classes per semester, a pace that typically allows them to complete their degree in three-to-four years.
