BISI provides funding (academic grant, up to 4,000) to support research and conferences that focus principally on the lands and peoples of Iraq. Support (outreach grant, up to 8,000) is also given to a short period of preliminary research - up to one year - that has the potential to grow into a longer-term, larger-scale project supported by a Research Council or other large funding body. We welcome applications from the full range of arts, humanities and social sciences subjects, and topics may cover any time period from prehistory to the medieval period to the present. Applicants should normally be employed by, or have an official connection with, a UK Higher Education Institution. Proof of the applicants affiliation may be requested.
