Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition

Description

The Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition is one of the foremost multi-instrument competitions in the world. This prestigious competition is designed to identify outstanding young instrumentalists and support their pursuit of careers in music. Of the ten contestants that will be selected to perform in the Semi-Finals competition, four finalists will be chosen to advance to perform with the Houston Symphony. The winner of the finals receives the Grace Woodson Memorial First Prize and a $25,000 award. Contestants must be current or recent (within two (2) years of graduating) undergraduate or graduate music students intending to pursue a musical career. The Ima Hogg Competition is open to citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States, or to foreign students currently enrolled in a U.S. college, university or conservatory. Non-U.S. residents must provide the necessary travel documentation if selected as a semi-finalist. Instrument Eligibility: piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, harp and marimba.
