LESLIE A. EBERT LEGACY OF LIFE SCHOLARSHIP. Did you know more than 100,00 people are waiting for a lifesaving transplant? As a high school senior, you have the power to raise awareness about the importance of registering to be an organ, eye and tissue donor through the Leslie Ebert Scholarship Program. Essay and Video Scholarship Prizes: $5,000 First Place Scholarship (One Award for Essay Winner & One Award for Video Winner), $3,000 Second Place Scholarship (One Award for Essay Writer & One Award for Video Winner), $1,000 Honorable Mentions (Three Awards for Essay Winners & Three Awards for Video Winners). How to Enter: Write a persuasive essay and/or produce a video that educates, then motivates, an audience to become registered organ, eye and tissue donors! Deadline: Wednesday, March 31, 2021 before 11:59 pm. Submit to: Send essay submissions to essayscholarships@wrtc.org and video submissions to videoscholarship@wrtc.org. Winners: If you are a winner, WRTC will contact you directly. Winners will also be announced on BeADonor.org by May 15, 2019. Essay and video instructions: Essay and/or video must be submitted with entry form(s) by 3/31/21 before 11:59 pm to essayscholarships@wrtc.org and/or videoscholarship@wrtc.org, essay must not exceed 1,000 words, video must not exceed 2 minutes, essay and video must include a call-to-action, all legacy of life scholarship rules must be followed (NOTE: entrant must live in WRTC's service area), two citations must be included and are excluded from total word count and/or video time allotment. WASHINGTON TRANSPLANT COMMUNITY (WRTC) SPONSORS the Leslie A. Ebert Legacy of Life Scholarship and is dedicated to educating people about the life-saving benefits of organ, eye and tissue donation. The Legacy of Life Scholarship is endowed through a generous gift from the Leslie Ebert Memorial Fund. Please note: All essay and video entrants must be a current high school senior who both resides and attends high school, or is home schooled, in one of the following locations: Northern Virginia (specifically the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Clarke, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and Fauquier, as well as the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Manassas, Manassas Park); Maryland (Montgomery, Prince George's, and Charles counties only); and the District of Columbia, and plan to attend a college, university or community college in the 2019 fall semester. You are not eligible for the scholarship if you reside and attend high school (or home schooled) outside the aforementioned counties and cities.
