NPA Foundation Collegiate and High School Journalism Scholarships

Description

It is proposed to award $2,000 scholarships for the 2021 school year to qualified graduates of Nebraska high schools enrolled in post-secondary educational programs in Nebraska-based colleges and universities with a declared journalism major in a print communication program. Each year the Foundation Board will decide the number of scholarships based on monies available. Eligible to apply are 2020 college/university students who graduated high school in prior years and who are now enrolled in Nebraska colleges and universities. Enrollment must be on a full-time basis. The recipient must use and enroll no later than the start of the third semester after the awarding of the scholarship. The Nebraska-based educational institution involved must offer a curriculum which provides the necessary education so a student graduating from the program is qualified for at least an entry level position in print journalism. Scholarships will be given to students with a specific interest in news, editorial, photography, circulation, production/design, or marketing careers at a weekly, semi-weekly, or daily newspaper. A letter of reference from the applicants community newspaper publisher or editor may accompany the application, but this is not a requirement in order to be considered. A statement from a college professor is required. Download the application form at the scholarship site.
