- The TSI Assessment, or Texas Success Initiative Assessment, is a three-part standardized test required for incoming college freshmen in Texas. The TSI Assessment is a diagnostic test administered to high school seniors to determine what college-level courses they are prepared for. The exam measures your knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing.
- All incoming first-year college students in the state of Texas are required to take the TSIA.
- The TSI Pre-Assessment Activity, or PAA, is a mandatory reading activity about the Texas Success Initiative Assessment and then completing one TSI Assessment.
- All incoming first-year college students in the state of Texas are required to take the Texas Success Initiative Assessment.
- Registering for the TSI Assessment requires a $40 administration fee.
- Students can still be admitted to Texas colleges without meeting the cut-off criteria for one or more parts of the Texas Success Initiative Assessment. However, they must enroll in a remedial course in that subject area before continuing to college-level courses. This will add unnecessary time and expense to the college experience.
