- The Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT) is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Officer (FSO) selection process to determine whether candidates are qualified to perform the official duties required of an FSO.
- The FSOT is a part of the Foreign Service Officer (FSO) selection process designed for candidates seeking one of five distinct FSO career tracks: consular, economic, management, political, and public diplomacy.
- The FSOT comprises three multiple-choice sections: Job Knowledge, English Expression, and Situational Judgement. You’ll also be required to complete a written essay for the Foreign Service Officer Test.
- The FSOT takes approximately 3 hours to complete, plus an additional 30 minutes for the written essay portion of the test.
