- The CompTIA A+ certification will help you to obtain an entry-level position in an IT career. To become certified, you must take two exams to test your knowledge of security, networking, hardware, operating systems, mobile devices, virtualization, and cloud computing.
- To get the CompTIA A+ certification, you must take and pass two CompTIA A+ exams. The two exams have a Core Series – the 220-1101 and 220-1102. You must complete and pass the first Core exam before signing up for the second Core exam.
- The time you will take to get CompTIA A+ certified depends on several factors. If you do not have prior knowledge and experience in IT, it may take you longer to become certified. Some people become trained and certified in around 8 weeks.

- There are several CompTIA A+ objectives between the two CompTIA A+ core exams. For CompTIA A+ Core 1 and Core 2, you will be required to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the following: Assemble components based on customer requirements; install, configure, and maintain PCs, mobile devices, and software for end users; understand the basics of networking and security forensics; properly and safely diagnose, resolve, and document standard hardware and software issues; apply troubleshooting skills; provide appropriate customer support; and understand the basics of scripting, virtualization, desktop imaging, and deployment. For Comptia A+ Core 1, you will be expected to know Mobile Devices, networking, hardware, virtualization and Cloud Computing, and hardware and Network Troubleshooting. For CompTIA A+ Core 2, you will be expected to know Operating Systems, security, Software Troubleshooting, and Operational Procedures.
- The CompTIA A+ exams are scored slightly differently between the two core exams. The CompTIA A+ Core 1 exam has a maximum of 90 questions and requires a minimum score of 675 on a scale from 100-900. You will have 90 minutes to complete this exam. The CompTIA A+ Core 2 exam has a maximum of 90 questions and requires a minimum score of 700 on a scale from 100-900. You will have 90 minutes to complete this exam. Both exams are multiple-choice and performance-based.
