Programs of Study

SUNY Oswego offers several M.B.A. degree options. The Business Administration degree program is designed for individuals who wish to develop the skills needed to advance to leadership positions. The M.B.A. in Public Accounting degree program is for those who want the academic exposure and preparation to qualify for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. The new Health Services Administration program prepares new and experienced professionals for leadership roles within the health care industry. Students also have the opportunity to pursue M.B.A. degrees through the 5-year program.

SUNY Oswego's M.B.A. degree programs will provide students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to lead in today's diverse and global industries. The programs feature respected and award-winning faculty members who stress practical problem solving scenarios through the coursework that is constantly evolving with the latest AACSB accredited standards.

SUNY Oswego's M.B.A. degree programs help students find the balance among professional, educational, and personal goals. With each of the M.B.A. degree programs offered, students will find the flexibility to build their paths to rewarding careers. The programs are offered on-campus, online, and at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse.

Research Centers

There are a number of research centers on the SUNY Oswego campus to support collaboration between faculty members and to serve as major instrumentation facilities.

The SUNY Oswego Institute for Global Engagement will encourage the development of international research and scholarship; act as a resource for the development of global, international, and intercultural knowledge and skills; and encourage the enhancement of the internationalized campus and engagement in the world.

The Center for Energy Education and Economic Solutions is a collaboration between SUNY Oswego, the Institute for Applied Geospatial Technology, Cayuga Community College, Morrisville State College, and the Auburn - Cayuga Development Corporation to develop new educational approaches and economic solutions for energy and economic development in central New York.

The Center for Accounting Research and Education (CARE) supports faculty member research, diversity initiatives, continuing professional education, student education, and community outreach, as well as social responsibility and ethical training in accounting.

Financial Aid

SUNY Oswego offers over 100 graduate assistantships, which can cover part of tuition and pay a periodic stipend for work. There are 2 competitive fellowships, the Graduate Diversity Fellowship and the Festa Graduate Leadership Fellowship.

SUNY Oswego does offer a small number of competitive scholarships, but incoming students should consider also looking into externally funded scholarships.

Many companies looking to boost their collective skill sets without bringing on new hires are willing to sponsor all or part of an employee's schooling through tuition reimbursement. Interested students should be sure to check with employers. There have been many changes to the financial benefits to assist veterans attending Oswego. The Veterans' Office on campus can help students with any questions or concerns.

Living and Housing Costs

SUNY Oswego offers on-campus living for graduate students. The Village is the home to 350 students. Each townhouse offers single bedrooms, shared bathrooms, and full kitchens, offering students an off-campus feel while still enjoying the benefits of an on-campus environment. The townhouses are fully furnished and include all utilities. The Mackin complex includes 2 residential halls, Lonis and Moreland. Students have the option of shared or single rooms; both are fully furnished and included all utilities.

There are several options for off-campus housing. The new Premier Living Suites is an off-campus college community. The apartments are fully furnished; all utilities are included, among them free continental breakfasts, free parking, free entertainment, and a fitness center on location. The Stevendore Loft Apartments are within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the Oswego YMCA. Additionally, they offer convenient access to the SUNY Oswego campus. These apartments are an urban, loft style with the original brick walls and high ceilings of the historic factory. The brand new bamboo wood floors and custom built kitchens give the apartments a downtown city façade. The Lofts at Canal Commons, offer newly renovated 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, perfect for young professional and graduate students.


SUNY Oswego's graduate programs and certificates are offered in class at the locations below and some are offered 100% online or as a hybrid.

The main campus was founded in the City of Oswego on the shore of Lake Ontario in 1913. The campus now consists of 58 buildings with classrooms, laboratories, and residential and athletic facilities. Recently, the campus has witnessed campus-wide renovations and renewal programs including the brand new, state-of-the-art Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation. The Oswego lakefront campus stretches across the edge of Lake Ontario, giving students and faculty members a spectacular view from the academic buildings.

The SUNY Oswego Metro Center is a dynamic hub where scholarship and practice intersect to provide meaningful educational experiences, address real-world problems, and create a workforce capable of stimulating and managing a vital local economy. The Metro Center is located in downtown Syracuse and provides a convenient way for Central New Yorkers to experience the educational excellence of SUNY Oswego. Students can complete nationally recognized graduate programs by enrolling in a combination of courses offered at the center, on campus and online.

The SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center is located in the Oswego County Industrial Park, just 20 minutes south of Oswego. The Phoenix Center offers a wide array of open enrollment learning opportunities. Program offerings can help students build executive savvy, performance enhancement, career transition, and entrepreneurial skills.

The University

The State University of New York at Oswego was founded in 1861, as the Oswego Primary Teachers' Training School by Edward Austin Sheldon. In 1913, the campus moved from the city of Oswego to the current lakeside location following the construction and opening of what is now known as Sheldon Hall. Oswego is now one of 13 university colleges in the SUNY system. More than 8,200 students enroll, and there are more than 73,000 living alumni.

Students pursue bright futures through innovative interdisciplinary programs that cross traditional boundaries. Oswego opens doors to the future with internships and study-abroad opportunities that rate among the highest in the SUNY system.

The Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of College and Schools accredits SUNY Oswego, and all academic programs have been approved and registered by the New York State Education Department. The National Council accredits the School of Education for Accreditation of Teacher Education. AACSB International -- the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accredits the School of Business. The American Chemical Society accredits the chemistry department's chemistry and biochemistry programs. The technology department received accreditation from the Council on Technology Teacher Education.


SUNY Oswego's M.B.A. degree program has rolling admissions, allowing students to start their programs anytime. Typically students go to school year-round, starting in the summer and graduating in May; however, this varies depending on each student.
