The Graduate School of Psychology provides students with an integrated educational experience that includes applied skills and contemporary models of service, complemented by professional and ethical expectations. These principles are evident in the programs of study, including school psychology, mental health counseling, and school counseling.

Programs are designed to provide students with the hands-on training necessary to acquire the highest degree of expertise in their fields. Students are provided with a challenging curriculum taught by supportive and highly professional faculty members. The primary objective of the faculty is to foster academic achievement and applied skills within students so that they may achieve their highest level of professional excellence.

MS Program in School Psychology

The Master of Science in School Psychology program consists of 63 credits of required coursework in the areas of education and special education, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, report writing, counseling, and consultation. As part of their training, students in the program are required to participate in fieldwork or other in vivo or simulated practicum assignments. The program may be completed in 3 years of full-time study or 4 or more years of part-time study. A 1200-hour internship is required for students to become eligible to apply for New York State School Psychology certification, the credential required for an individual to practice as a school psychologist. Late afternoon and evening classes are offered at 2 campuses: midtown Manhattan and Bay Shore, Long Island. Online classes are also available.

MS Program in Mental Health Counseling

The 60-credit Master of Science program in Mental Health Counseling is designed to train students to work in a variety of mental health settings (e.g., clinics, hospitals, counseling centers, rehabilitation facilities, outreach programs, after-care centers, and private practice). Through the program, students acquire the skills necessary to serve clients and meet the challenges of a full- or part-time mental health career.

After graduating from the program, each student is required by the New York state to complete 3,000 post-graduate supervised hours and pass a state licensing exam in order to be granted a New York State License in Mental Health Counseling. Courses are offered in the evenings and on weekends at the midtown Manhattan campus. Touro College accepts applications for the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

MS Program in School Counseling

Graduate School of Psychology offers a 60-credit Master of Science (MS) degree in School Counseling, leading to New York State provisional certification as a school counselor.

Students in the program acquire the skills necessary to become counselors in educational settings. The course of study, offered at the midtown Manhattan campus, focuses upon meeting the needs of children and adults in culturally diverse school and community settings. The curriculum provides students with thorough understandings of issues involved in school counseling, along with the skills necessary to help clients learn to reach their goals.

MS Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology

The 36-credit Master of Science program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply psychological principles, models, and methods to organizational issues in order to enhance productivity, growth, and profitability. This practitioner-oriented program prepares students to assess organizational effectiveness, implement improvement strategies and interventions, and measure outcomes.

The coursework synthesizes a broad range of psychological and behavioral strategies that focus on individuals improving their work performance and organizations increasing their productivity.

The program prepares students for organizational and professional development roles in areas of consulting, business, education, government, and community and health organizations.
