July is National Culinary Arts Month—a special time to pay tribute to professional chefs and culinary geniuses across the United States. To celebrate, we’ve served up a list of seven scholarships to help you fund your Culinary Arts degree.
- James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program
This scholarship program assists aspiring and established culinary professionals who plan to further their education at a licensed or accredited culinary school or hospitality institution, college, or university. Cash grants will be applied to tuition (and sometimes other school-related expenses). Candidates must be an undergraduate student attending a four-year college and studying culinary arts.
Amount awarded: varies - Academic Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
Each year, the Foundation awards dozens of scholarships to deserving high school seniors and undergraduate students who dream of pursuing higher education to study the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industries, and to instructors who want to continue their education. Eligible applicants must be an undergraduate student attending a university, a four-year college, or two-year college in the US or Canada.
Amount awarded: $2,000 - AHLEF Annual Scholarship Grant Program
Each year, the Foundation administers nine scholarship programs which award scholarships valued up to $7,500, for students enrolled in hospitality-related bachelor or graduate degree programs at colleges and universities across the US. Qualifying majors include hotel/restaurant management, culinary arts, travel/tourism, and hotel administration.
Amount awarded: $500 - Eddison Hermond Memorial Scholarship Fund
This competitive scholarship is awarded to students interested in pursuing culinary, food service, or hospitality-related coursework. High school seniors and current college students studying culinary arts, food service/hospitality are eligible to apply.
Amount awarded: $1,000 - Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Scholarships
The Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation awards scholarships to residents of Illinois who have accepted or plan to apply to an accredited culinary or hospitality school, college, or university. Eligible candidates must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student, taking a minimum of nine credit hours each term and majoring in culinary, restaurant management, food service or another related program.
Amount awarded: $1,391 - Foundation Fund Scholarship
The Washington Wine Industry Foundation facilitates scholarships on behalf of Washington’s wine industry for qualifying students pursuing studies in viticulture, enology, and other wine-related studies. You must be an undergraduate student or a graduate student attending a university, a four-year college, two-year college, or a vocational-tech school.
Amount awarded: $2,000 - CoCo Wine Festival Culinary Arts
This annual scholarship is open to any student enrolled in a culinary arts program. Applicants must be full-time or part-time culinary arts students attending a two-year college.
