Location

The New England Institute of Art is located in the Town of Brookline, right on the Boston line, just a short distance from famous Fenway Park and the Museum of Fine Arts. Brookline is a unique blend of busy streets and rolling countryside, upscale shops and small pubs, gracious apartment buildings and large estates. It is also home to many academic and scientific professionals who work at nearby medical centers in Boston and in some of the more than eighty schools and colleges in the area.

Among its many attractions, Brookline features its own working farm, the oldest country club in the nation, a town golf course, the home where President John F. Kennedy was born, a hillside park overlooking Boston with an open-air skating rink, a transportation museum, and many neighborhood parks.

Its major retail centers, such as Coolidge Corner and Brookline Village, are bustling pedestrian areas with antique stores, coffee shops, bookstores, fresh fruit and vegetable markets, delicatessens, and restaurants.

Convenient light rail service can take students from the school into downtown Boston--or any of its many neighborhoods, from the Back Bay to Beacon Hill to Boston Harbor, each with its own unique character, history, and charm. Boston is a relatively compact city that's easy to walk. Follow the red bricks of the Freedom Trail, visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Boston Common, the USS Constitution, Rowes Wharf, the New England Aquarium, and more.

Besides the Red Sox at Fenway, the NBA's Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins of the NHL both play at the TD Garden, while the NFL's New England Patriots play football at Gillette Stadium in nearby Foxboro, Massachusetts. And, of course, there's the world-famous Boston Marathon.
