Overview

Drexel University Overview

Drexel University is a major research institution located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Drexel's programs feature comprehensive, integrated academics and world-class faculty. Our students immerse themselves in their fields of study by participating in use-inspired research and cooperative education.

Enhanced Academic Options: Get Started Right Away

Drexel is comprised of an array of constituent colleges, schools, and centers offering more than 80 full-time undergraduate degree programs. For undergraduate students interested in pursuing a graduate degree, Drexel has more than 20 accelerated degree options in everything from the BS/MS in individual programs to BS/MBA, BA/BS+MD, and BA/BS/JD degrees.

Students can begin research activities with Drexel faculty members as early as freshman year, and opportunities to study abroad exist in more than two dozen locations. Additionally, Drexel's Pennoni Honors College offers students from all majors an enriched university experience. Honors students can take advantage of specialized courses, colloquia, independent study options, field trips, and more.

Drexel Co-op: Build Your R?®sum?® Before You Graduate

Drexel’s Steinbright Career Development Center offers students world-class career services, job preparation, and our renowned cooperative education program, Drexel Co-op. Created in 1919, Drexel Co-op is one of the oldest and largest in the country and has partnered with some of the biggest names in business, providing generations of students with hands-on work experience. From Fortune 500 investment firms to cutting-edge tech start-ups to internationally renowned fashion houses, there are more than 1,600 employers in 30 states and 46 international locations who provide professional opportunities for Drexel students from every major and career interest.

By alternating periods of classroom study with periods of work beginning as early as sophomore year, undergraduate students are able to gain up to 18 months of professional experience before graduation through Drexel Co-op. Not only are students able to meaningfully build their résumés while in school, they're also able to explore different career possibilities, expand their networks, garner valuable references, and sometimes even earn a paycheck. Plus, students with co-op experiences are more competitive for career-level positions after they graduate, earning higher average starting salaries than most college graduates.

Welcome to Philadelphia

Located in the country's sixth largest city, Drexel considers Philadelphia to be an extension of its campus. Home to first-class museums, theaters, shopping, dining, nightlife, and professional sports, Philadelphia is a national and international landmark, rich with history and culture and a center for corporate communities, such as the pharmaceutical, electronics, and finance industries.

Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods -- each with its own identity, yet each characteristically Philly. Situated in the University City neighborhood, Drexel's University City Campus is a 10-minute walk from Center City, Philadelphia's downtown neighborhood. Also nearby are the neighborhoods of West Philly, Fairmount, the Parkway/Museum District, and Rittenhouse Square. Drexel is easily accessible by public transportation through numerous bus, trolley, and subway routes that go all over the city. Adjacent to campus, Amtrak's 30th Street Station is a hub for regional and national train and bus routes, connecting quickly to New York City, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., the Philadelphia suburbs, and the Philadelphia International Airport.

Drexel offers students many ways to enjoy the city, including region-specific courses that allow for real-world discovery through local research trips; community service; and Open Arts, through Campus Philly, which gives students discounted access to museums, performance venues, and cultural events throughout the city.
