Gannon University is a small, private liberal arts school in Erie, Pennsylvania that focuses heavily on health science degree programs and professional preparation. Gannon enrolls about 3,100 undergraduates, with more than 1/3 of those students enrolled in Gannon's Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences. The college is home to more than 20 undergraduate and graduate degree programs for students at all stages of career and academic development.

The university's Patient Simulation Center is the largest such training facility in the Great Lakes region. It combines interdisciplinary learning with the latest simulation technology to prepare students for work with human patients. The center has a total of 14 patient simulators, emergency and labor-delivery simulation rooms, classrooms, and computer labs. Another campus facility, the Human Performance Laboratory, analyzes movement and exercise performance in collaboration with several of Gannon's health science and engineering programs.

Health professions and sciences bachelor's degree programs
All Gannon's bachelor's degree programs are built on Gannon's liberal studies core curriculum, which encompasses cultural, scientific, historical, theological, and philosophical topics. In addition, Gannon's science and health profession undergraduate programs focus on preparing graduates to enter the job market or to continue on to professional school or advanced academic studies. To give students a clear idea of what to expect, the school provides entry-level and mid-career salary statistics for careers related to each major.
Students pursuing the BS in biology or in mathematics have the option to minor in teacher certification preparation. Traditional science bachelor's programs are available in biochemistry, chemistry, forensic science, and freshwater and marine biology. Students focused on professional preparation can choose among Bachelor of Science programs in, medical technology, nutrition and human performance, , public health, respiratory care, general science, and sport and exercise science.
Accelerated undergraduate/graduate degree programs at Gannon include a 5-year BS/Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program, BS/MS programs in occupational therapy and physician assistant science, and a 6-year BS/DPT program for physical therapy students.
Available minor fields of study in the College of Health Professions and Sciences are athletic coaching, exercise science, nanotechnology, sport behavior, and statistics.
Undergraduate nursing programs on campus and online
The Villa Maria School of Nursing in the College of Health Professions and Sciences offerstwo Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree programs, one on-campus for full-time students, and one fully online program for working students who already hold the Registered Nurse credential. The campus-based BSN degree program includes more than 900 clinical hours at local and regional healthcare providers, core classes drawn from Gannon's liberal studies curriculum, and hands-on classes in the Patient Simulation Center. Graduates of this program have a first-time pass rate of more than 93% on the Nursing State Board Exam, and a post-graduation job placement rate close to 100%.
Villa Maria's online RN to BSN program allows working registered nurses to complete their bachelor's degree on their own time, with asynchronous coursework and 7-week course terms. Most students take about 19 months to complete the program, with core subjects including professional nursing, research processes and analysis, healthcare politics and advocacy, management, and health promotion.
Gannon University's nursing degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Graduate-level programs include the MSN, RN to MSN, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Cooperative undergraduate and professional school programs with partner universities
Gannon University partners with a number of other schools in the US and abroad to provide early-acceptance bachelor's degree-plus-professional degree programs in chiropractic, dentistry, podiatry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine. These programs reduce the time it takes to earn a professional degree and save time and money on professional school applications and admissions.

Gannon also offers a cooperative dual-degree program with the University of Pittsburgh that offers a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Chemical Engineering in a total of 5 years.
High job placement rates and academic success
Careers related to science and health care are in high demand, as Gannon's near 100% job-placement rate for nursing graduates shows. Graduates from Gannon's chemistry program have achieved 100% placement and a higher than average rate of job offers from which to choose. Medical technology graduates have a perfect pass rate on the American Society of Clinical Pathology national certification exam, and have a job-placement rate of close to 100% at hospitals and labs around the country.
Other graduates have gone on to graduate work and professional education at such schools as Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Missouri.
Extensive scholarship opportunities
Gannon University participates in the federal Yellow Ribbon tuition benefit program for veterans. School-sponsored scholarships, including the full-tuition Presidential Scholarship, are available based on merit, academic testing, and talent in the arts. Gannon also administers more than 200 endowed scholarships and automatically considers applicants for all relevant awards.
