Overview of Robert Morris University

A private, nationally ranked doctoral research university in the suburban hills of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University is just a short drive from the social, cultural, and professional opportunities of a major city. RMU offers more than 60 undergraduate programs, both on the 230-acre campus and online. For nearly a century, the university has provided academic excellence with a professional focus and personal attention.

Gallup studies show RMU students are more likely than typical college graduates to say college prepared them for life after graduation, are more likely to have a job offer waiting when they graduate, earn more, and are more engaged in their careers and thriving in their personal well-being. And with RMU’s Student Engagement Transcript, graduates have a record to show future employers of their leadership and other experiences outside the classroom.

In the last decade, the university has opened new, multimillion-dollar facilities for its School of Business, its School of Communication and Information Systems, its School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and has completely renovated the facilities of its School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science and its School of Education and Social Sciences.

Nearly 90% of freshmen live in campus housing, creating a close-knit community and providing students with the chance to make new friends. Visiting international scholars and a variety of opportunities to study abroad -- for a semester or a few weeks -- together enrich students' global perspectives. Students also can choose to join any of RMU's more than 100 clubs and organizations. In addition, nearby Pittsburgh is full of attractions of all kinds, from culture to night life to internship opportunities.

RMU's competitive athletics program fields 16 NCAA Division I teams. The Colonials have won titles and championships in nearly every sport they participate in. Football draws enthusiastic crowds to Joe Walton Stadium. Basketball and volleyball teams play at People's Court in the new UPMC Events Center, and the region's only Division I men's and women's ice hockey teams play at the RMU Island Sports Center, a 32-acre sports and recreation complex. Students can also participate in a number of club and intramural sports.
