Introduction
Located a short walk from the Massachusetts State House and Boston Common, Suffolk University is a private university in Boston. Suffolk confers undergraduate and graduate degrees in over 100 fields of study.
For students interested in learning in a new culture, Suffolk offers study abroad programs at the university’s campus in Madrid as well as programs in 25 other countries.
In addition to academic opportunities, Suffolk University’s ideal location in downtown Boston gives students easy access to 10 museums, 57 historical sites, 2,300 acres of parks, the city’s famous sports venues, world-class restaurants and theaters, and countless businesses where they can gain career-related experience. Suffolk students learn hands-on through internships and in-class partnerships with executives from the city’s government, finance, medical, arts, and tech sectors.

Suffolk University offers undergraduate students over 70 degree programs in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Sawyer Business School, a robust honors program, and a second location at our Suffolk University Madrid Campus. Undergraduates can earn their BA, BS, BSBA, BFA, or associate’s degrees, as well as various certificates.
At our Suffolk University Madrid Campus students can study abroad, spend up to their first two years, or even earn their entire degree in international relations. There, they’ll learn and live with students from more than 25 countries and take courses infused with a global perspective.
Our political science majors study next door to the Massachusetts State House They intern there, too—and at Boston City Hall, agencies, consulates, and consulting firms. They can also gain insights on federal politics with the Washington Center.
Our Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program’s curriculum offers coursework in in-demand fields like cybersecurity, FinTech (financial technology), and big data. Students learn from our faculty’s insights and connections, collaborations with real-world clients, and internships at Boston’s top employers.
Our law majors gain the knowledge they need to become successful paralegals and prepare for law school. This ABA-approved degree introduces them to key legal concepts, and they enjoy access to the library at nationally ranked Suffolk University Law School.
Our psychology majors can balance their requirements with law, education, gender studies, and sociology electives. They also intern at hospitals and human services organizations in Greater Boston, and gain hands-on lab experience while conducting cutting-edge research alongside their faculty mentors.

Admissions at Suffolk University
Suffolk University accepts both our own application and the Common Application. Additionally, we require an application fee (waived when students visit in person or virtually), an essay/personal statement, an official high school transcript or GED/HiSET results, one letter of recommendation. Suffolk is test-optional for domestic applicants, who may choose to submit their test scores. Non-native English speakers may submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English test instead of an ACT or SAT.
BFA applicants must submit a portfolio of artwork along with the required admission materials above.
Our Early Action deadline is November 15; March 1 is the deadline for fall admission.
Financial Factors | Cost & Financial Aid at Suffolk University
Suffolk University is committed to making higher education as affordable as possible. Our Office of Student Financial Services works with students and families, offering expert guidance and a range of financial assistance.
For the 2021–22 academic year, tuition is $41,242. Room and board is $17,766 for resident students living in University-sponsored housing.
Suffolk awarded $129 million in financial aid to undergraduate students. Ninety-four percent of new undergraduate students receive some type of financial assistance.
All applicants, including international students, are automatically considered for merit-based aid at the time of admission. These merit scholarships range from $5,000 to $22,000.
To be considered for financial aid, applicants must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our priority fall financial aid deadline is March 1.
