Accreditation and Licensing

From its origins as a major player in the oil and cotton industries, Dallas--and the entire Dallas-Arlington-Fort Worth Metroplex--has grown to become a truly global center of business and culture. The city's unique blend of Southern hospitality and worldly sophistication offers a wonderful environment for students pursing a creative education.

Not only is the Metroplex home to Fortune 500 corporations due to the dynamic business climate, but students find respected museums, symphonies, fabulous shopping, more restaurants per capita than any other city in the nation, and multiple transportation centers such as Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport, the world's second-busiest airport. And there's a wide assortment of world-class cuisine--including barbecue, authentic Mexican, and Tex-Mex.

Deep Ellum, just east of downtown, was the South's hotbed of jazz as blues in the 1920s and '30s. Today, hundreds of artists operate studios throughout the district alongside bars, pubs, and concert venues. Many public spaces--sides of buildings, sidewalks, streets, and tunnels--are canvases that local artists have turned into murals. There are similar scenes south of the Trinity River, where the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff is home to studio artists living in converted warehouses. South of downtown, the Cedars neighborhood has its own population of artists, along with a growing array of entertainment venues. Southside on Lamar, once a Sears warehouse, has been converted into lofts, studios, and shops. The sculpture garden at the base of the statuesque Trammell Crow Center downtown offers more than 20 statues from the French masters, including Rodin, in a peaceful setting with cascading waters and beautiful gardens.

As for pro sports, Dallas is home to the Cowboys of the NFL, the Stars of the NHL, and the NBA's Mavericks. Arlington, a short drive away, is home to both the Texas Rangers baseball team and Six Flags Over Texas. There's also NASCAR racing at the Texas Motor Speedway, championship rodeo, and horseracing at Lone Star Park.

Dallas also offers an abundance of year-round outdoor activities like tennis, biking, hiking, sailing, ballooning, and just about anything else, thanks to an average of 288 days of sunshine a year.
