Overview

Leadership in innovation at Evergreen

Evergreen is a progressive, public liberal arts college located in Olympia, Washington, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Since opening the doors in 1971, Evergreen has established a national reputation for leadership in developing innovative interdisciplinary, collaborative, and team-taught academic programs. We have a vibrant undergraduate program, three graduate programs, and public service centers that constitute a unique academic setting.

Evergreen has been a leader in environmental education from the beginning. In recent years, the school has stepped up their commitment to sustainability to reach beyond the classroom and even the campus.

Evergreen values a student-centered learning environment, a link between theory and practice, and a multicultural community of diverse faculty, students, and staff working together. Current enrollment is approximately 4,200.

Innovative Academics

Escape the sequences of disconnected classes and endless prerequisites. Experience a better way of learning with programs that explore the many sides of a theme or topic. Narrative evaluations from faculty replace competitive grades with meaningful feedback.

With over 60 fields of study to explore, Evergreen doesn't tell students what to take. Students are free to choose programs with topics that interest them.

1st-year access--Freshmen students can get access to top tier equipment like nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopes, 3D printers, and studio cameras, right out of the gate. Other colleges require upper level experience or research clearance.

Eighty-eight percent of Greener grads are employed or pursuing graduate or professional studies within one year of graduation (or both!)

The three graduate programs - Masters in Environmental Studies, Masters in Public Administration, and Masters in Teaching - ground students in values of service, community, social justice, and stewardship.

Incredible Value

Evergreen's great education comes at a modest price.

Sixty-eight percent of Greeners receive financial aid. The average award is $10,111.

Greeners experience the fastest time to degree among Washington's public four-year institutions. That means less in total costs for students.

Nearly 50% of graduates in the Class of 2013 finished without any debt. Those who did borrow while attending Evergreen borrowed below state and national averages.

Living and Dining on Campus

Living at Evergreen puts the choice in the hands of students. Whether students prefer same-gender living arrangements or vegan eating, Evergreen can accommodate most lifestyle pursuits.

Housing

First-year students will live in the residence halls. Apartments and modular housing become available after that. When it comes to campus housing, students can choose what's right for their lifestyle.

Dining

High-quality campus dining offers the community opportunities to spend high-quality time together. The Greenery, The Marketplace, The Flaming Eggplant, and other venues are ready to give meet the dining needs of students.

Greener Culture

There's just something about being a Greener that you won't find anywhere else. Whether it's through athletics, recreation, or the arts, Geoducks do things a little bit better, or smarter, or just differently. Through the Geoduck Student Union, students are empowered to get involved in positive social and political change, shaping campus culture, and making college life better, year after year.
