Seven schools and colleges, endless possibilities
Although the University of Hartford (UHart) is comparatively small, with 4,500 full-time undergraduate students, its range of academic offerings equals that of larger universities. With approximately 100 programs of study across seven schools and colleges, students can find a program that is exactly right for them. Focusing on academic and career success, UHart offers small class sizes, with help available to stimulate social and scholarly growth. With an average student-faculty ratio of 9:1, students are creating close relationships with their professors from day one.
UHart offers tons of exciting research projects to explore new passions. Students may help change the world by developing a new prosthetic hand customized to patients’ needs, or work with NASA on a space shuttle system that may launch humans to the moon or mars. They may teach children with disabilities to become independent, or work with faculty to remove marine debris on local beaches. The opportunities are endless.
Whatever the goal may be, the University of Hartford sets students on a path to make it achievable.
Join the fun at UHart
As members of the UHart family, new students become part of a fun and supportive environment. With more than 100 clubs, organizations, intramural and club sports, there are plenty of opportunities to explore passions and make new friends.
As part of the Division 1 America East athletics conference, UHart provides a home to talented athletes with talented minds. In fact, the Hawks have won the America East Academic Cup six times in the past seven years. The Cup is presented to the institution whose student-athletes post the highest GPA during the academic year.
The University also offers exciting opportunities to study abroad in more than 50 countries every semester. Students can study abroad for a semester, a year, or for a shorter term such as summer, winter or spring break.
A unique location with tons of opportunities
For students who are looking to experience everything a major city has to offer but still want the benefits of a quiet, beautiful campus, UHart is the right place. The campus is located in West Hartford, Connecticut, in a 350-acre suburban-style area. West Hartford offers a bustling center less than ten minutes from campus, featuring trendy shops, restaurants, cafes, festivals and other events. There are also plenty of hiking trails and reservoir walks just past this area.
As the name gives away, the University of Hartford is just a few miles down the road from the Capital City of Connecticut. Hartford is home to exciting concerts, sporting events, art exhibitions, dance and theater performances, and so much more. The city also has a wealth of internship and job opportunities.
Located on the East Coast, UHart’s campus is just a 40-minute-drive from the ocean and about two hours from Boston and New York City, as well as some of the nation's most stunning landscapes.
