Overview
Introduction
Inspired by our land-grant identity and guided by our motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech is an inclusive community of knowledge, discovery, and creativity dedicated to improving the quality of life and the human condition within the Commonwealth of Virginia and throughout the world.
At Virginia Tech, we're reimagining how education and technology intersect. This approach transforms the ways we teach and learn, perform research, and engage with communities around the world.
Hokies collaborate with diverse team members and cross the traditional lines between fields and disciplines to tackle global-scale problems.
We push the boundaries of knowledge in order to make a difference in the world. Members of the Hokie Nation have a clear vision of how we can serve in our personal, professional, and civic pursuits.
We are a force for positive change, driven by our motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
We are Hokies. Are you?

Admissions at Virginia Tech
Students can choose either Common App or Coalition application from our website and only need to apply once. We have no preference between the two application platforms. At Virginia Tech, we have several opportunities for students to apply including Early Decision (November 1) and Early Action (December 1), and our final regular decision application deadline is January 15th. Students are required to respond to the four writing prompts within the Ut Prosim profile and to submit the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) in order for their application to be considered complete.
Virginia Tech aims to put you, the applicant, in the driver’s seat during the application process. The SRAR allows you to complete your applications for admission on your terms and when you are able to get it done. We recommend accessing the SRAR through your applicant portal to ensure it links to your application for admissions.
When your application is complete, it will be reviewed holistically within the context of your school. Factors that are considered include academic rigor, course grades, requested major, activities outside of classroom, residency, interest in the Corps of Cadets and disciplinary record. Virginia Tech is test-optional for students entering in Fall 2022. On your application for admission, you will be able to select whether or not you would like your scores to be reviewed as part of your application.
