The University of Rhode Island (URI) offers a variety of AACSB-accredited M.B.A. programs to fit your needs. The university knows its students' time is valuable, so it has created programs to allow them to finish their degrees in a rapid timeframe and quickly move to the next phase of their careers. URI keeps its classes small, making students feel more comfortable networking in a smaller environment and encouraging interaction and intellectual debate in a community atmosphere.
The URI MBA programs offer personalized academic advising, faculty with a broad range of experience and research, value, and technologically enhanced facilities.
To meet a global business environment that requires a workforce capable of critical and innovative thinking, URI has redesigned the One Year MBA that challenges the traditional look and feel of a full time MBA program. They offer you a unique and hands on approach to learning that breaks down the functional barriers of business education, by offering cross-disciplined courses that directly map onto solving real business problems in a strategically innovative way. Students will meet Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm, at the Providence campus during the fall and spring semesters, followed by a summer internship, electives, or research projects.
The URI One Year MBA program will walk you through the strategic process of defining how you are going to define your change goals, measure them, analyze the results, make improvements and control that process to ensure your goals have been met. This is accomplished by using a small dedicated group of faculty will be with you for the entire year, combining forces within the classroom to integrate different disciplines; a Live Case Study with a local global company; hands-on consulting projects with such companies as Fidelity Investments, CVS, Hasbro; choice of Business Innovation or Product Innovation project; and team and individual papers, homework and exams. To complete the program, you will participate in a summer internship, electives, or research project.
The URI evening M.B.A. program is aimed at individuals who want to pursue a degree while maintaining their professional commitments, and who value flexibility, convenience, diversity, and a return on investment. The program is designed to emphasize conceptual, analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills. Material for this non-thesis program is presented through lectures, discussions, case studies, and both individual and group projects. You will not only learn from the professor, but the network of fellow students who work in a broad range of industries. A goal of the program is to bring new ideas you discussed and learned that evening in class to the workplace the next day.
This program requires the completion of 45 credits, or 15 courses. Classes (with a maximum of 30 students) meet one night a week during the fall, spring, and summer sessions in Providence or Kingston. Students are allowed to enroll in as many classes as they wish per semester. Concentrations include finance, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Web-based and Saturday courses are also available to enable students to finish in their desired timeframes. The M.B.A. program does not require previous instruction in business administration.
Climate change represents a major challenge and opportunity to a broad range of businesses and the global economy. In turn, there is a growing demand for leaders with skills in both business and science, particularly climate-related sciences. To address this need, URI created a unique dual-degree program that merges the M.B.A. with a Master of Oceanography (M.B.A./M.O.) dubbed the Blue MBA.
The Blue MBA program requires students to take both M.B.A. and M.O. classes at the Providence and Narragansett Bay campuses, choosing one of three schedule options. The program provides tomorrow's leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop business models to ensure an environmentally sustainable world for future generations. It allows for a summer internship anywhere in the world. At the end of the program, students graduate with two degrees -- the M.B.A. and the M.O.
This program is designed for students with pure science, environmental science, or engineering undergraduate degrees who want to develop their management skills and broaden their marketability. Students are expected to be successful in both GSO science courses and M.B.A. courses. The program will be particularly beneficial to those seeking management careers in industries such as energy, ocean technology and engineering, hazard risk management, water resources, fisheries, marine navigation, and tourism, as well as ocean and human health.
