Overview

The Master of Business Administration

The University of New Haven offers two different delivery formats for the MBA degree program: Full-time Day and Flexible evening. The Full-time Day program is designed for recent college graduates with little or no professional experience. The Flexible evening is designed for both the working professionals as well as those with little or no professional experience. Through both of these formats the University of New Haven's MBA program prepares today's students to be the business leaders of tomorrow.

Through concentrated, accelerated study at the world-class Graduate Center in Orange, Connecticut, MBA students develop the critical skills needed to analyze modern business problems and devise complex solutions, think strategically, and manage all aspects of the modern business enterprise. Coursework spans the core elements of business, including accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and statistics, and offers students the opportunity to select from one of eight concentration areas for a customized study.

The program's schedule allows students who possess an undergraduate business degree, along with successful academic performance, to complete the program in as little as one year. Non-business majors can complete the program in two years.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the graduate business programs at the University of New Haven is competitive. Candidates are evaluated carefully on previous academic and professional success as well as on their potential for leadership in business, nonprofit, and other careers. All candidates for admission to graduate programs are required to hold a four-year baccalaureate degree (or the equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution. International students must hold a degree that is acceptable as an alternative to a four-year bachelor's degree program in the United States. An undergraduate degree in business is not a requirement; qualified students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Candidates without work experience, such as recent graduates, will be considered based on academic qualifications. Admission decisions for all programs are based on a "portfolio" approach that includes review of the combination of a student's undergraduate and/or graduate academic performance, professional and/or business experience, standardized test scores, and two letters of recommendation. All applicants are required to submit GMAT (or GRE) scores as part of their application unless they meet the considerations to waive the test scores. In addition, applicants may submit an optional essay to provide additional information to the admissions committee or to explain any unusual circumstances.

Required materials for admission are as follows:

- Completed application

- Official transcript(s)

- Official GMAT or GRE scores OR Test Score Waiver Request Form

- Two letters of recommendation

- Resume

Financial Aid (Experiential Graduate Assistantship Program)

Roughly 80% of UNH graduate students use student loans at some point in their graduate school career. Students can borrow up to $20,500 annually by applying for financial aid and obtaining federal and private student loans. The University offers its highest-achieving incoming graduate students the opportunity to participate in the Experiential Graduate Assistantship Program (EGAP). In return, students receive an experiential learning and work opportunity, a 75% tuition discount, and an hourly wage. The University also takes part in the tuition reimbursement program (with participating companies) and, as a participant in the Yellow Ribbon program, offers tuition waivers for US service members and veterans. Grants, scholarships, and fellowships are also available.

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loans

These loans are the primary financial aid source for most graduate students. Direct loans are available to U.S citizens and eligible non-citizens who are enrolled on a minimum half-time basis (five credits per semester). Graduate students may be eligible to borrow up to $20,500 in non-need-based Unsubsidized Stafford loans. Stafford loans do not go into repayment until six months after students drop below half-time status, graduate, or leave school. To apply for financial aid students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid online at www.FAFSA.gov.
