Overview

Fordham Master of Arts in Economics

With an emphasis on critical thinking and analytic skills, Fordham master's degree in economics prepares students for a variety of career paths--from Wall Street to public policy. Students learn from faculty members who have built their careers straddling the academic and professional worlds. With expertise in economic development, finance, international economics, and monetary economics, our faculty members have served as advisers and consultants to global players in these fields, including the United Nations, the World Bank, Citibank, and more. And of course, there's nowhere better to study economics than in New York City, the financial capital of the world.

Students can choose to focus on the following areas of study:

Financial and Monetary Economics

  • Focus on portfolio selection, risk management, asset pricing, financial markets, and corporate finance.
  • Practical experiences in financial modeling, readings, and quantitative skills.
  • Analysis of financial decisions made by firms and valuation decisions made by investors.

International and Development Economics

  • Application of economic analytical tools to business and public policy problems that arise through foreign trade, investment, development assistance, and capital flows.
  • Experience in evaluating economic policy, analyzing country risk, and assessing human development programs through responsible use of economic analysis
  • Instruction on techniques of stabilization policy and methods to sustain economic growth

Graduates of this M.A. program have gone on to careers as financial analysts, economists, and executives in a variety of sectors:

  • Private sector and NGO development

Program Basics
