The JU Davis Advantages
At Jacksonville University, the focus is on the student experience and providing a rigorous curriculum that is both economical and rewarding. In order to achieve this goal, JU Davis offers its students five main advantages.
The first advantage of being a JU Davis graduate student is the flexibility of the programs. Jacksonville University offers online, hybrid, or in-class programs that are designed to fit each student's schedule. This means students can complete their degrees in 12 months, 16 months, 18 months, or longer – it all depends on the student and what works for him or her.
The second advantage is the network students create. With a small student-to-faculty ratio of only 25-to-1, professors are able to devote more time to student growth and achievement. In addition, the small class sizes allow students to interact more with each other and foster professional relationships. Students can engage with the JU Davis strong network of 11,000 alumni and 900 active executives managing businesses all over the world.
The third advantage of JU Davis is the practical experience students acquire. By participating in the JU Dolphin Student Investment Fund and on-site trading room equipped with Bloomberg Terminals, students gain real-time exposure to the financial market and practical conditions. Students also meet at a state-of-the-art facility located just minutes from downtown Jacksonville, which is a hub for major business organizations.
The leadership focus is the fourth advantage of earning a JU Davis education. JU programs put an emphasis on professional development. This allows students to develop leadership competencies that differentiate them and prepare them to excel.
The fifth and final advantage of JU Davis is its value. Of all the business schools in the world, only 5% are AACSB accredited like Jacksonville University. Beyond JU's certifications, JU Davis has the Southeast's best reputation for returns on management education investment and value based on the variety and number of courses offered, networking, support service provided, and one-on-one time with faculty.
Flexible and Accelerated MBA Programs
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Jacksonville University was designed for all types of working professionals, including those looking for career changes and those looking to move up within their current fields. Graduates earn promotions into senior managerial roles in their professions by incorporating their accumulated theory and practice into their respective roles as managers and leaders. Management training serves as a foundation for both the FLEX MBA and Accelerated MBA programs. The curriculum combines accounting, decision sciences, economics, finance, information technology, international business, management, and marketing, all chosen so that students are well-equipped for management and decision-making roles in both small companies and corporations. Students may choose to follow a general MBA path or concentrate in one of four concentration areas: "Accounting and Finance," "Consumer Goods and Services Marketing," "Management," or "Management Accounting." The FLEX program is highly adaptable to the students' career goals: students choose which courses they wish to take and how quickly they wish to complete their program. Most students are able to complete the program as part-time students in two years, and many complete their courses in just five semesters. The accelerated program is structured so that undergraduate business students starting in the fall with adequate preparation can complete the program in one year.
The Executive MBA Program
The JU Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) is an intensive 19-month program designed to develop a leader's strategic mindset, business expertise, and creative instincts. The EMBA was created for rising and mid-career executives, both in context and convenience. The curriculum is taught in a team-oriented environment, where courses are integrated to emphasize broader strategic management and leadership skills.
The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership
The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is one of an elite group of AACSB-accredited DBA programs and is ideal for executives, aspiring consultants, policy makers, and clinical or applied faculty desiring positions in schools of business internationally. A master's degree in business is desirable but not required to be admitted to this program. The DBA is earned in a minimum of three years - two years in classes, and the final year(s) working directly with a dissertation advisor. This program takes business intelligence and the art of “informed intuition” to a new level.
Joint Program Graduate Business Degrees
There are three joint MBA programs at JU-- the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)/MBA degree program; the Master of Public Policy (MPP)/MBA degree program; and the Juris Doctor (JD)/MBA degree program. The first two are offered fully at Jacksonville University.
An Attentive and Successful Career Resource Center
The Jacksonville University Career Resource center supports all JU students and alumni, including graduate students. Career advisors provide a variety of services to help students and alumni succeed in graduate and professional school and in the world of work. This includes individual career consulting and counseling; career assessments; career workshops; an annual career and internship expo; information sessions; special speakers and events; on-campus recruiting; job and internship postings; mock interviewing; resume/cover letter preparation and revision; and much more.
A Variety of Options for Financing a Business Education
Most graduate students at JU receive some type of financial aid through scholarships, loans, or assistantships. Institutional scholarships are available for qualified applicants during the fall and spring annually. Many working students are also supported to some degree by their employers. JU is a voluntary participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program for Post-9/11 GI Bill recipients.
