Tufts Supports a Diverse Graduate Student Population

To better support graduate students from historically underrepresented groups, the School of Engineering's Center for STEM Diversity and the Graduate Dean’s Office serve as a focal point for graduate recruitment and retention efforts. The offices  support a series of lectures, programs, and student organizations that encourage diversity and gender parity within science, engineering, technology, and mathematics.

Recruitment events are also coordinated across schools via the Graduate and Professional Student Admissions Recruitment Committee (GAPSARC), which is a university-wide committee of Tufts administrators and faculty members who are actively involved in the recruitment of graduate and professional students from underrepresented groups. To support current graduate students the Multi-Ethnic Graduate Alliance (MEGA) acts as a social and educational organization serving graduate students from all campuses, and the Center for STEM Diversity supports many underrepresented graduate students in the STEM fields. Tufts is member of the National GEM Consortium, a fellowship program for minorities in engineering and applied science
