Named in honor of the year Georgetown was founded, 1789 Scholarships are funded by generous gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of Georgetown who want to help the University enroll and retain the very best students. 1789 Scholarships provide loan relief (students receive less loan and more grant aid) and also help fund need-based Georgetown scholarships. Students offered 1789 Scholarships are also admitted into the Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP).
