AWG Maria Luisa Crawford Field Camp Scholarship

Description

In conjunction with NAGT's Scholarships for Field Study, the Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) sponsors two additional scholarships specifically for women studying in the geosciences. This program encourages promising young women who pursue geoscience careers through attendance at field camp. Two $750 scholarships are awarded annually through a competitive process. The applicant must be a full-time student who is pursuing an undergraduate degree in the geosciences(geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography, planetary geology, or earth science education) at an accredited college or university AND must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Application deadline is February 14th each year. In addition to the $750 to help offset field camp expenses, recipients of a Crawford Scholarship also receive a complimentary membership in the AWG. Interested students can apply for a Crawford Scholarship using the same application form as the regular NAGT Scholarships for Field Study. You will need a current NAGT/AWG member to endorse your application. A transcript of all your college work (an unofficial transcript is acceptable). Names and contact information for two instructors who are acquainted with your work and are willing to write letters of recommendation for you (noting your ethnic origin, if applicable). We will contact them directly and ask them to submit their recommendations. The name, institution, and email address of an NAGT/AWG member who has agreed to endorse your application for this scholarship. A 250-word essay explaining how the field-camp experience fits into your long-term academic and career goals.
