The Cayetano Foundation provides opportunities in higher education to exceptional Hawai'i students, especially those who have demonstrated perseverance and determination in the face of difficult financial and social obstacles. Governor Benjamin Cayetano's personal experiences and awareness of the hardships of others were part of the impetus for creating this scholarship. Preference is for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year. Minimum of one award will be awarded to a graduate of Damien Memorial School. The remaining awards can be awarded to graduates of any public or private Hawaii high school. Preference will also be given to the students with the greatest financial need.
