Beringia Settlement Trust Scholarship

Description

The purpose of the Beringia Settlement Trust Scholarship Program is to provide opportunities and benefits for BSNC original shareholders and direct lineal descendants of original shareholders in support of educational and vocational activities. Eligible applicants must be an original shareholder of Bering Straits Native Corporation or a direct lineal descendant of an original shareholder. Lineal descendants are direct descendants of an original shareholder, including natural or legally adopted children that are Alaska Natives or a descendant of an Alaska Native as defined by ANCSA, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their respective direct lineal descendants. College or university student applicants must be a high school graduate or GED recipient attending an accredited college or university and must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Vocational program applicants must be a high school graduate or GED recipient attending a vocational program and must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher. If the applicant has obtained a GED, they must submit a copy of their official transcript with the total score. If the applicant has been out of high school for more than 10 years at the time they apply, then the GPA requirements do not apply, but proof of a diploma is required. In the Fall, the scholarship will open on March 1, with a deadline of June 30 for courses that typically begin in August and end in December. For Spring, the scholarship will open on October 1, with a deadline of December 1 for courses that typically begin in January and end in May. For Summer, the scholarship will open on March 1, with a deadline of May 15 for courses that typically start in May and end in August. For vocational programs, the application must be submitted six weeks prior to training start date. Applications may also be submitted through email.
