The Charles & Mitch Ota Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to students from Maui that participated in Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) to attend a college or university outside of Maui County, either on other Hawai'i islands or on the continental U.S., with the intention to sustain support for scholarship recipients through their undergraduate education. The donor requires applicants to be a high school senior or previous graduate of Maui High School, King Kekaulike High School, or Molokai High School, with preference being given to current high school seniors. Candidates must have participated in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program while in high school, with preference for candidates who have completed at least three years of acceptable AVID classes displayed on the applicant's high school transcript: 9th - TGG8090; 10th - TGG8100; 11th - TGG8110; 12th - TGG8120.
