Description

The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Early Childhood Education Scholarship was established in 2018. The purpose of this fund is to increase the number of public school teachers by providing scholarships to undergraduate students. Preference is for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year. Applicants must intend to teach in the public school system or equivalent in the state of Hawaii. They must pursue an associate's or bachelor's degree. Preference will be given in the following order of priority: students who attend Leeward Community College or University of Hawaii - West Oahu; students who pursue a degree in early childhood education; and students who graduated from a public high school or equivalent in the State of Hawaii.
