The Eric B. Sager Scholarships was established through an estate gift by the late Eric B. Sager, an IRE member from West Virginia, who worked mainly in trade publications. Applicants must be U.S.-based journalists and independent journalists. Journalists from trade publications and small outlets are encouraged to apply. Students are not eligible. The applicant's LinkedIn page or link to their resume is required. Journalists must submit two clips of their investigative or journalistic work, if applicable. A letter of support from the applicant's supervisor, manager, or adviser describing how this training would be beneficial and affirming that the applicant will be given time to attend the training may also be submitted.
