ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching

Description

The ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching aims to honor the role of entomological education as a basis for the entire discipline by recognizing an ESA member who is deemed to be the most outstanding educator of the year. It highlights their commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and outreach, making a notable impact on the future generation of entomologists and the broader understanding of insects and their importance in the ecosystem. The nominee must be teaching at the community college or university level, and must have excelled through innovations in developing new courses, programs, and teaching methods. Nominators must provide the candidate's CV which includes the Background Information, Teaching Section, and Service information. Up to two letters of nomination or recommendation from professional colleagues, former students, or current students (not more than one from each) must be submitted. Nominees or candidates will be judged by the Judging Panel based on their Classroom Instructions, Other Aspects of Teaching and Mentoring, and Outreach and Other Activities.
