The Frederick Douglass Scholarship (FDS) awards 30 full and 15 partial tuition scholarships to students who are selected from a rigorous review and interview process. The Frederick Douglass Scholarship application must be submitted no later than March 1 by 5:00 p.m. Selected students will be invited to campus for an interview. In order to be eligible for the Frederick Douglass Scholarship, students must be an admitted UMD student or a transfer applicant with a completed and submitted application (including all required documents) and have earned an associateÔÇÖs degree from a Maryland community college, have completed, or be in the process of completing 56 college credits with the most recent 30 credits earned at a Maryland community college. Students must submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions they have attended and two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a community college faculty member, and one from an individual of their choosing.
