Glenn and Dorothy Schnieber Scholarship

Description

The Glenn and Dorothy Schnieber Scholarship was established in 2021 by their family. Glenn and Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. Neither of them was able to afford college. They bought a small business from Glenn's dad and over the next 30 years they grew it into a successful wholesale food distributor, Schnieber Fine Foods. Education was always important to them. In their memory, the donors hope this scholarship will help recipients in Nebraska achieve their educational goals. Applicants must be a current graduating senior, GED, or homeschooled graduating senior from Lancaster County, Nebraska with a preference towards Lincoln High School graduates. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year university or college in Nebraska, with preference for those attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln or Southeast Community College. There is further preference for those pursuing a degree in business, computer science, or engineering-related field of study. Applicants must have participated in community service, extracurricular activities, or were employed part-time. Applicants must also demonstrate high character and a strong desire to learn. Recipients of this scholarship may renew this scholarship for the following year, for a total of two years. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Lincoln Community Foundation for more information.
