Higher Education Legislative Plan

Description

Created by the Mississippi Legislature, the Higher Education Legislative Plan (HELP) is designed to provide tuition assistance to qualified students whose financial need, as demonstrated by federal student aid eligibility, will not be met with gift aid from other sources. The program provides full tuition to qualified students for up to four years. Graduating high school seniors and current college students (freshman students only) may apply. Applicants must be a legal resident of the State of Mississippi for one year prior to application. Applicants must enroll or be enrolled at an approved postsecondary institution in Mississippi in a program of study leading to a first certificate, first associate's degree, or first bachelor's degree. New applicants and renewal applicants must submit a residency document. Preferred residency documents are FAFSA and Mississippi driver's license. Alternate residency documents that may be accepted are State Tax Return (not Federal) for the current tax filing year, homestead exemption, voter registration, and vehicle registration. The application deadline is March 31; and the submission of documents deadline is April 30. The complete list of eligible institutions are available on the program's website. Please visit the award's website or contact the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid for more information.
