International Research Scientist Development Award

Description

The International Research Scientist Development Award (IRSDA) provides support and protected time (three to five years) to advanced postdoctoral U.S. research scientists and recently-appointed U.S. junior faculty (applicants must be at least two years beyond conferral of doctoral degree) for an intensive, mentored research career development experience. The experience will be in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) as defined by the World Bank. Low-income, lower-middle-income and upper-middle-income countries are included. Applications are invited from early career investigators from any health-related discipline who propose career development activities and a research project that is related to the health priorities of the LMIC. There are two IRSDA K01 FOAs. One is for individuals proposing independent clinical trials (PAR-21-10). The other is for individuals who are not conducting independent clinical trials (PAR-21-104), although research experiences on a mentor's clinical trial are allowed, such forms and guides can be accessed at the scholarship site. As the application is quite extensive, there is a separate site found in the scholarship webpage showing a step by step process of gathering the necessary documents and how to submit them using eRa Commons. Upcoming application deadlines: March 9, 2021, March 9, 2022, March 9, 2023.
