Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Description

The Jackie Robinson Foundation perpetuates the memory of Jackie Robinson by providing generous four-year scholarships and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs to ensure their success and further develop their leadership potential. To be eligible for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, applicants must be a graduating high school senior. Applicants must also present evidence of financial need, demonstrate a record of academic excellence and demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited and JRF approved four-year college or university within the United States or affiliated with a United States based college or university. Applicants must have not accrued more than 25 percent of credits needed to graduate from college. It is optional but applications may submit their test scores (AP, IB, PSAT, ACT, or SAT). Applicants must also submit four essays. Applicants must submit a recommendation from someone who will devote the time to provide a positive, compelling, and accurate description of them. The person should not be a family member or someone who knows the applicant only in a friendship capacity. The recommender should be fully aware of the applicant's academic history, interests, and goals, and should address the applicant's ability to meet the requirements and expectations of the JRF scholarship, including strong academic performance, community service, and leadership propensity. Possible recommenders to consider are: a teacher, guidance counselor, athletic coach, employer, or mentor with whom the applicant has interacted in an extra-curricular activity.
