The Keyera Energy - Peter J. Renton Memorial Scholarship rewards and encourages Alberta students to pursue studies in a post-secondary program in a field related to the energy sector. Two scholarships of CAD $3,000 will be awarded. Applicants must have completed the requirements for high school graduation in Alberta. They must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for a degree or diploma program in a field of study supporting the energy sector, including but not limited to: business, communications, sciences and engineering, technical programs and information technology. Preference will be given to the previous year's recipient(s) providing the recipient(s) maintains a 3.0 GPA, out of 4, in their previous year of study (with a minimum course load of three courses per term). Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada or Protected Person under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; Visa students are not eligible. They must be an Alberta resident, and to be considered an Alberta resident one of the following conditions must apply: one parent, or legal guardian has maintained permanent residence in Canada for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to commencing post-secondary studies and be residing in Alberta; or Alberta is the last place the student has lived for 12 consecutive months immediately prior to commencing post-secondary studies; or the student's spouse or partner is an Alberta resident.
