The L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest is an opportunity for new writers of science fiction and fantasy to have their work judged by some of the masters in the field and discovered by a wide audience. Applicants must enter a short story science fiction, fantasy, light horror. There must be no excessive violence or sex on the page. The entry must be up to but not exceeding 17,000 words. All entries must be original works by the entrant, in English. Plagiarism of any length will result in disqualification. The entrant's work must be created in its entirety by the entrant and cannot be generated, in whole or in part, by Artificial Intelligence. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media. The contest is open only to those who have not professionally published a novel or short novel, or more than one novelette, or more than three short stories, in any medium. First quarter deadline is December 31. Second quarter deadline is March 31. Third quarter deadline is June 30. Fourth quarter deadline is September 30.
