The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is pleased to administer the Lina & Jitendra Shah Family Scholarship for medical students who are residents of Philadelphia County or the municipalities of Bristol Borough, Bristol Township, or Bensalem Township in lower Bucks County. This scholarship was established in 2017 and is made possible by contributions received from Drs. Jitendra and Lina Shah of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Applicants must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident. They must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student, not including time spent attending an undergraduate or graduate school. Applicants must be enrolled in a fully accredited Pennsylvania medical school. They must be entering or enrolled in their first-year or second-year of medical school. Applicants must submit two reference letters, from persons other than family members, documenting the applicant's integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician. One reference letter must be from either an undergraduate college/university professor or a physician. Applicants must also submit a letter, on school letterhead, from the medical school they are attending, verifying that they are enrolled as a medical student at that institution.
