Lorraine Allison Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Lorraine Allison Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at a Canadian university. The student must be enrolled in a program of study related to Northern issues (science or social science). Northern is defined as locations that lie north of the southern limit of the discontinuous permafrost zone. Candidates in biological science fields will be preferred, but social science topics will also be considered. The Scholarship Committee is looking for applicants who best address academic excellence; with demonstrated commitment to Northern research; and have a desire for research results to be beneficial to Northerners, especially Indigenous Northerners. Scholars from Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit a Cover Letter, which also includes an email address where the applicant can be contacted; and a brief description of the proposed research, including a clear hypothesis, relevance, title and statement of the purpose of the research, the area and type of study, the methodology and plan for evaluation of findings. Any collaborative relationship or work should be briefly identified. Three reference letters are also required. A list of current sources and amounts of research funding, including scholarships, grants and bursaries must also be submitted. The supporting documentation must be submitted as individual attachments, not a zipped file. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Arctic Institute of North America for more information.
