The Malcolm & Betty Smith Merit Scholarship was established by long-time university trustee and friend Malcolm Smith. Recipients are selected in their junior year, and the scholarship is awarded for their senior year. Preference is given to students who have an exemplary academic record, demonstrate financial need, and have demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement through community service. Students who apply to the New School will automatically be considered for liberal arts scholarships. The priority deadline for the Fall semester is extended to April 1, and the priority deadline for the Spring semester is extended to December 1.
