Mary Olson and Viola Olson Gustafson were born and died in Cloud County, Kansas. In between, during a time when nursing degrees were not yet heard of, these strong Kansas women trained in the art of nursing and spent their lives caring for others. The Mary Olson & Viola Olson Gustafson Scholarship will be awarded to students who must be attending or planning to attend Cloud County Community College. Applicants must plan on obtaining a degree in nursing or a related medical field. Preference will be given to applicants who have attained grades that place them in the top quartile of their high school graduating class. Applicants may also be "non-traditional" students.
