Description

The Minnesota Veterans' Dependents Assistance Program provides tuition assistance at most Minnesota colleges and universities to dependents of persons considered to be prisoners of war or persons missing in action -- as defined by the Department of Defense -- after August 1, 1958. Students can receive tuition and fee assistance up to a maximum of $250 per year at Minnesota private colleges. The student must be registered for an undergraduate program leading to a bachelor's degree or certificate of completion. The student must be one of the following: the spouse of a prisoner of war or person missing in action; a child born before or during the time the parent served as a prisoner of war or was declared a person missing in action; or a child legally adopted or in the legal custody of the parent before and during the time the parent served as a prisoner of war or was declared a person missing in action. The document containing the verification of status can be downloaded at the scholarship site. Students should apply to the financial aid office at the school they attend or plan to attend, also send an email inquiry about the application.
